An advanced examination of the shape grammar formalism and its relationship to some key issues in a variety of other fields, including art and design, philosophy, history and philosophy of science, linguistics and psychology, literature and literary studies, logic and mathematics, and artificial intelligence. The course may include readings from different  fields that can vary  from year to year. The main requirement of the class is the participation of the students in the weekly readings and the in-class presentations and discussions. The assignments consist of either short answers to questions or the preparation of slide-presentations about the papers.
