This is the first among the ambitious projects on Christian churches that Gaudi began in 1898. Finaly, he was able to complete only the crypt . This project became the precedent for many of the innovative solutions that we see in the other famous church of Gaudi, the Sagrada Familia. The crypt reminds of a cave. The design follows the major conventions of the traditional church arrangement. In the interior, the axis of bilateral symmetry coincides with the main axis of movement , which begins from the entrance and ends at the altar. The complexity in the forms of the vaults is the result of a series of structural innovations.
