Notre-Dame-du-Haut was a statement of Le Corbusier's late style. The church is sited atop a hillside. Functionally, the church retains some of the standard characteristics of the traditional churches: oblong nave, two side entrances, an axial main altar, and chapels beneath towers. This small church is characterized by several formal innovations and and it is symbolically powerful and complex.
