Architects use spatial ideas to solve design problems and to form designs. The objective of the computational research of design is to use computational methods and means to produce successful new designs for artifacts (synthesis), or, to uncover the compositional laws governing the production of existing designs (analysis). My research work belongs to a wider group of efforts that attempt to use rule based methods in design synthesis and analysis. I deal with why and how computational rules can be used as an expressive - explanatory and productive medium in the studio. |
